As down-to-earth, true-to-ourselves Swiss, Americans never cease to surprise us with their presence and attitude. They seem to connect what they do to their personal journey, their background, their purpose, their passion, and weave a powerful story, with one important protagonist: “me”. In Switzerland, modesty is our attitude; we like to stick with the facts and are suspicious of exaggerations. What the Swiss might decry as self-centeredness is based on the simple realization that a good pitch requires an emotional hook: Why do I care about something? What is it that drives me?
The Storytelling Camp 2021 is a joined project between swissnex San Francisco and the Swiss Study Foundation. The two-week educational program will be characterized by the Silicon Valley ecosystem and mindset. The first week will tap into the Silicon Valley mindset and learning what makes you stand out, whereas the second week will be about creating your own story by analysing how others tell their story. At the end of the second week the participants will be able to present their own TED like Talk. In order to reach that objective, the interdisciplinary camp includes workshops with experts from various fields.
Note I: In these particular times, it is hard to predict how and if future travels will be impacted. If travel bans are lifted, the Storytelling Camp 2021 will take place in San Francisco, USA. Otherwise, the participants will gather in a hostel in Switzerland.
Note II: Preceding the two-week program there will be a preparatory event in Switzerland to familiarise students with the topic. Participation at the preparatory event is a prerequisite for participation at the Summer School.
