From Elvish to Esperanto – people invent languages for various reasons. Artificial languages can be found in popular science fiction and fantasy films as part of a fictional world. In another context and created to a different purpose, however, they can essentially define a social reality and become object of heated debate. In this book club we are going to explore the world of artificial languages, find out more about how language design works, and may eventually better understand natural language.
