Have you ever wondered how expeditions of several weeks in remote nature can be carried out and how, by doing so, one can discover a different type of experience? Do you want to explore how organising your own expedition intimately links with the concepts behind Circular Economy? This film conference is designed to not only share the powerful emotions felt during expeditions in autonomy, but also to illustrate how communities of outdoor enthusiasts act in the spirit of sustainable tourism.
Dominique Snyers is a Belgian engineer who graduated from the University of Stanford in 1991 and launched several digital start-ups throughout his career, before switching to making and producing adventure documentary films. With the Capexpe outdoor community that he created, his adventure spirit made him take part in a large amount of expeditions year-long all around the globe.
In partnership with the University of Bristol Expedition Society, this film-conference will broadcast two of Dominique’s internationally award-winning movies: Founding Moments (6m28) and The Nahanni Whisperer (53m02). After the streaming of the movies, a discussion will be held based on the screenings paired with interesting insights from Dominique Snyers and Cyril Monette, participant of the Founding Moments expedition.
Dominique will then further discuss the workshops he currently gives at HEC Liège (Belgium) and explain how organising such expeditions is much more than what it seems to be, both in terms of resourcefulness and from a circular economy point of view when the experiences are shared amongst a community.
Finally, the conference will be followed by drinks for participants to further share their thoughts on the movies and the discussed topics in an informal way.
