Unleash the potential of the one third of your lifetime that you spend asleep by deepening your understanding of your dreams. Numerous questions about our dreams, mind and body and about the role of the unconscious in these spheres can be intriguing to anyone even without a background in psychology or neuroscience. In a first part of this book club, historical perspectives on the unconscious will be discussed based on key works from the era of psychoanalysis. Contemporary works reviewing recent research will put us in a more modern mindset in the second part. Other than that, the comparative discussion of texts from different periods will give us the opportunity to reflect on the history of ideas.
Readings include works by Freud, Jung, Roth, Klein and Dennett.
Nevertheless, suggestions for further readings are welcome and all participants are encouraged to shape the program of this book club.
